The Residency

BredaPhoto will invite 10 Top Talents to join the Residency program 2020. Have you graduated from one of the Art Academies that participate in the ITP and did you graduate in June 2018 or later? Then you may qualify to participate in the Residence program!

Each Academy will be represented by one Top Talent. In May 2020, the 10 representatives will be selected by the teachers of the Academies in consultation with BredaPhoto curators. Please note that the Residency program is open for Master Students, too.

If you are selected, you will be invited to join the ‘BredaPhoto Artists Collective 2020’. The 10 members of the Artists Collective are present during the entire period of the BredaPhoto Festival 2020. You will be provided with workspace and housing facilities during your stay in Breda. During your stay you will work on your project inspired by the title of BredaPhoto Festival 2020. October 4 the theme for 2020 will be announced.

While working on your project, you will have individual and collective meetings with the festival curators, and you can attend special Master Classes. On top of that, you will be invited to the Artist Dinners that take place in the city during the festival. These will allow you to socialize with famous international photographers and to expand your network.

From October 22 to October 25 (the last week of the Festival) the work you create during your Residency period will be showcased as part of BredaPhoto Festival 2020. The Grand Opening is scheduled for October 22, 2020.

‘As a Resident at BredaPhoto, you are given an incredible amount of time and space to make new work, as well as coaching and freedom in your work process. The balance between all those factors was so good that I had the time of my life during the residency. A true life-changing experience!’

‘Photography is not about taking or making. For me it’s about showing and thereby giving. BredaPhoto gave me the chance to give.’
