Abstract photographs that, on closer inspection, are not what they seem; Robert Pufleb works according to the principle I do not seek, I find not, I meet He makes bizarre object constellations from everyday scenes. Pufleb encounters situations and creates new stimulating images that give the audience an aesthetic but also unexpected experience.
The New York Times revealed that the American Ministry of Defence secretly sponsored UFO research. But Robert Pufleb (Germany) already found the flying saucers. He photographed tens of mysterious flying objects – in China and several European cities. Are they from outer space? Come see Roberts work ‘TRANSFORMER’ during the upcoming BredaPhoto Festival and be your own judge.
Another miraculous find by photographer Robert Pufleb are so called ‘alternative moons’ in the book he made with designer Nadine Schlieper. It contains 42 unique photographic images of moons and cosmic landscapes; brand new discoveries unlike you have ever seen before. But like with Pufleb’s flying saucers, the observant watcher will note that also these moons are not what they appear.
“We intended Alternative Moons to be a metaphor for the perception and interpretation of images in times of ‘alternative facts’ and ‘fake news,’” Schlieper and Pufleb said. “The book is a launching platform for questioning the power of images in general, their imaginary objectivity, as well as their vast potential for manipulating peoples minds.” (source: hyperallergic.com)
Alternative Moons won the ViennaPhotoBookAward 2017.
