Yannis Kontos (1971) shows how Greek families struggle with budget cuts and financial constraints imposed by the European Union and international financial organisations, and what solutions they find to cope.
Yannis (Greece, 1971) completed his PhD in documentary photography at the Newport University of Wales and worked as a photographer in over 45 countries, such as North Korea, Palestine and Sierra Leone. His work has been awarded several times, including first prize in the 2006 World Press Photo Contest and the Pictures of the Year. Yannis is a member the US based photo agency Polaris Images and published several books. He participated in the 2001 edition of the World Press Photo Joop Swart masterclass.
