Jia Dai Tengfei (1986) reveals the impact of urbanisation on Chinese society, and the fate of those in the countryside who are left behind while others have moved to the city.
Jia studied journalism and the won the first prize in the China International Press Photo Contest, an annual contest organised by the Chinese Photojournalists Society. Among others, he worked for the Oriental Morning Post and the Chang Jiang Daily, a newspaper from Wuhan, the largest city in Central China. He was one of the 12 participants (out of 165 nominees) of the World Press Photo Joop Swart Masterclass of 2012.
